The Team

We are united by an integrative approach to improving quality of life

Your professional team for mental health

Founder & Medical Director

Dr. Fabian Unterhofer

General practitioner with a focus on consciousness-enhancing, innovative, and evidence-based therapies.

As a general practitioner in Vienna, I am passionately dedicated to accompanying people on their journey toward inner growth and holistic health. In our fast-paced and multifaceted world, health and well-being are increasingly coming to the forefront. Despite scientific advances in medicine, there is often insufficient space within our healthcare system for the profound processes that are essential for lasting positive change.

Founder & Medical Director

Dr. Claus Derganc

General practitioner passionately dedicated to the innovative treatment of mental disorders.

I aim to create a space to step back from habitual life patterns and thereby open a window for change. Through my expertise in general medicine, work with altered states of consciousness, and psychotherapeutic principles, I unite important dimensions that together can lead to profound growth, self-awareness, and transformation.

Practice Manager

Carolina Czizek, MSc, BSc, BSc (WU)

Cognitive researcher with a focus on practical knowledge transfer and trip sitting

I hold a BSc in International Business Administration, a BSc in Psychology, and an MSc in Cognitive Science. The connection between my three fields of study and my passion for mental health motivate me to coordinate and develop interdisciplinary projects in the field of augmented therapy, psychedelic care, and research. To advance these topics in a targeted manner, I co-founded the association APSTA and established my organization Lunar.

My heart is dedicated to encouraging people to discover their own inner strength and find pathways to connection. Both professionally and personally, I am committed to addressing the mental health crisis and promoting a holistic approach to healing. Working at ZAT represents an important step in this direction.

Psychotherapist

Michael Urban

In my work as a therapist, it is of great importance to me to create a safe, mindful, and trusting space. Within the framework of augmented therapy, I meet people with openness and clarity as well as the necessary respect for individual boundaries, and I accompany them empathetically through all phases—from the preparatory sessions through the present and calm support during the experience to the integrative sessions afterward. It is important to me that what is experienced does not stand alone, but can be carefully understood, contextualized, and appropriately integrated into the individual life and healing process. Through careful preparation, supportive accompaniment, and mindful integration, a protected framework is created in which experiences can find stability and have lasting effects.

Clinical Psychologist

Karsan Ameen, MSc

I am a clinical psychologist and work exclusively with scientifically validated methods. My therapeutic approach is based on cognitive-behavioral therapy, with a particular focus on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and exposure therapy. As the founder of Luvio, a specialized center for Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, I have many years of experience in treating anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorders. I view the responsible use of altered states of consciousness, such as those facilitated by ketamine, as a potentially valuable complement to clinical psychological treatment approaches. The associated increased neuroplasticity can, in my view, open targeted windows for change. These can be utilized within the framework of professionally grounded therapeutic integration to support sustainable psychological change.

Psychotherapist

Mag. Marlene Rupp

As a psychotherapist and coach in Vienna, Marlene Rupp has been accompanying people through their psychedelic experiences since 2018. Her integrative approach combines Gestalt therapy with attachment theory, embodiment, ACT, and Buddhist philosophy. As co-founder of the Psychedelic Society Vienna and PsyCare Austria, she is committed to establishing substance-assisted psychotherapy in Austria through lectures, community work, and media engagement.

Psychotherapist

Mag. Florian Fossel

My interest in the topic of consciousness—how we perceive, interpret, and act in the world regarding ourselves, other people, and the reality around us—has led me to psychoanalysis and group analysis, two methods that proceed from fundamental intersubjective connectedness and from the existence of the unconscious, the far larger part of our consciousness, which is the site of our unprocessed conflicts and, above all, our creative resources. In my work, I repeatedly encounter people who, triggered by trauma, life crises, or initiated by psychoactive substances, enter extraordinary states of consciousness, and I can repeatedly witness how life-changing and healing such experiences can be when it is possible to work through and integrate them. Therefore, I also see great potential in augmented psychotherapy. As a psychotherapist, I see myself as a companion to support you in self-exploration.
