Fabian Unterhofer

Welcome to Dr. Fabian Unterhofer, a general practitioner with a focus on consciousness-expanding, innovative, and Evidence-Based therapies.

My focus is on the biopsychosocial model, which interconnects physical, psychological, and social factors. I am particularly committed to working on and further developing therapeutic approaches involving altered states of consciousness, such as ketamine-augmented therapy. This makes it possible to see the person as a whole and to enable them to experience themselves as a whole.

Treatment focus

  • Ketamine-augmented therapy

Ketamine-augmented psychotherapy

In ketamine-augmented therapy, altered states of consciousness are used in a targeted way to enable sustainable psychological healing processes. Ketamine serves as a pharmacological agent that opens emotional access, promotes therapeutic depth, and stimulates neurobiological changes.

These ketamine-induced experiences often enable direct insights into issues that cause suffering, promote emotional processing, and create space for new perspectives. Patients who suffer from treatment-resistant psychological burdens such as depression, Anxiety Disorders, or post-traumatic stress disorder benefit in particular. Our therapy offers them the opportunity to resolve deeply rooted emotional blockages and experience long-term healing.

To make these significant inner processes effective in the long term, psychotherapeutic support before, during, and after the experience is a recommended option as part of treatment.

If you understand the impossible, you will do the possible.

Alan Watts

As a general practitioner, I am passionately dedicated to supporting people on their path to inner growth and holistic health.

In our fast-paced and multifaceted world, health and satisfaction are increasingly coming to the fore. Despite scientific advances in medicine, there is often not enough space in our healthcare system for the profound processes that are indispensable for lasting positive change.

My professional experience ranges from working with people in difficult life circumstances, such as homelessness, to treating severe mental illnesses, including depression and substance use disorders. On my personal development path—shaped by diverse methods, travel and cultures, as well as ongoing self-reflection and critical questioning of society—I have come to realize how enriching even the most complex paths can be. These insights have intensified my interest in the human psyche and consciousness, both in my personal development and in my professional work with patients.

Since 2022, I have been deepening my knowledge through further training in “augmented psychotherapy” at the Mind Foundation in Berlin, which focuses on promoting mental health through altered states of consciousness. We achieve these states through pharmacological methods such as ketamine infusions or through techniques such as immersive breathing.

In view of increasing societal burdens, I pursue the goal of offering my patients innovative therapeutic approaches such as psychedelic and psycholytic therapies. My current focus is on psychotherapeutic support using ketamine therapy.

My approach is based on sound scientific evidence and personal experience, enabling me to ensure safe, professional, and empathetic treatment. In close collaboration with psychotherapists and psychiatrists, I develop tailored treatment concepts that are individually aligned with the needs and challenges of each patient, in order to support the best possible path to healing and health.
