I am pleased that you have found your way here. I am Dr. Erik Kakrik, Specialist in Psychiatry and Psychotherapeutic Medicine. In my work, I accompany people on their individual path toward greater mental stability, self-understanding, and inner balance.
My particular interest lies in altered states of consciousness and their therapeutic potential—especially within the framework of Psychedelic-Assisted Psychotherapy (PAT) and Integration-Focused Psychotherapy (IFT) (both certified in Germany).
Therapeutic Approach
I am fascinated by how altered states of consciousness—whether through breathwork, hypnosis, or substances—can help reach deeper layers of experience. They often enable new access to oneself, to repressed emotions, or blocked experiences. As part of my training, I gained personal experience with:

- Various breathwork techniques (including holotropic breathing)
- Hypnosis
These personal experiences have shaped my therapeutic approach: I work mindfully, safety-oriented, and integratively—with a particular focus on trust, stability, and sustainable integration. Consultations are available in the following languages: German, Hungarian, English, and Spanish.

Professional Background
Even during my medical studies, I developed a particular interest in the application and research of psychedelic substances within a psychiatric context. In 2014, I worked in Hungary at the INDIT addiction clinic in the field of early warning and risk assessment of new psychoactive substances.
Between 2014 and 2017, I was part of the “Party Aid” organization at the O.Z.O.R.A. Festival, serving as a shift supervisor from 2015 onwards. There, I led an interdisciplinary team of physicians, psychologists, social workers, and students, supporting individuals in acute psychological crises and challenging non-ordinary states of consciousness.
I wrote my diploma thesis at the University of Pécs (Hungary) in 2016 on the subject of “Drug-Induced Psychoses.” In terms of content, I focused on the differentiation between acute psychedelic-associated crises and drug-induced psychotic states in acute psychiatric settings.
In 2016-2017 and 2019, I also explored traditional and cultural-anthropological applications of Ayahuasca in Peru and Brazil.
I completed my specialist training in Psychiatry and Psychotherapeutic Medicine in Germany (ZfP Klinikum Winnenden and Johanniter-Krankenhaus Oberhausen) as well as in Austria at the Landesklinikum Baden. I received my specialist diploma in 2024. Subsequently, I served as a senior physician at the Landesklinikum Baden until the opening of my private practice. Additionally, I currently work part-time at the PSD Wiener Neudorf.
Since 2024, I have been a moderator for the Mental Health Section of the MIND Foundation. Together with my co-moderator, I initiated and organized a lecture series for the 2024/2025 academic year on the current state of research regarding less-publicized psychedelic studies and their potential clinical relevance.
Furthermore, I am a member of APSTA – Association for Psychedelic Science & Therapy Austria as well as the DGPFT – German Society for Psychedelic Research and Therapy.

Information on Reimbursement & Payment
Reimbursement by health insurance (private physician system): As a private practice, my invoices are partially reimbursed by statutory health insurance providers. Here are non-binding reference values for the reimbursement amount:
ÖGK Vienna: approx. €90–110 (for 60-minute appointments) | approx. €50 (for 30-minute appointments) | approx. €170–190 (for an ADHD Initial Consultation with Diagnostics).
SVS or BVAEB: approx. €200 for the Initial Consultation.
Payment methods: You can conveniently pay at the practice by card (debit/credit card) or in cash. Note on cash payment: For security reasons, we keep only limited change at the practice, so we kindly ask you to have the exact amount ready if possible. Thank you!
