Dr. med.
Erik Kakrik
I am pleased that you have found your way here. I am Dr. Erik Kakrik, Specialist in Psychiatry and Psychotherapeutic Medicine. In my work, I accompany people on their individual path toward greater mental stability, self-understanding, and inner balance.
My particular interest lies in altered states of consciousness and their therapeutic potential—especially within the framework of Psychedelic-Assisted Psychotherapy and Integration-Focused Psychotherapy (accredited in Germany).
Therapeutic Approach
I am fascinated by how altered states of consciousness—whether through breathwork, hypnosis, or substances—can help reach deeper layers of experience. They often enable new access to oneself, to repressed emotions, or blocked experiences. As part of my training, I gained personal experience with:
- Hypnosis
- Various breathwork techniques (including holotropic breathing)
- Ketamine-assisted psychotherapy
These personal experiences have shaped my therapeutic approach: I work mindfully, safety-oriented, and integratively—with a particular focus on trust, stability, and sustainable integration. Consultations are available in the following languages: German, Hungarian, English, and Spanish.
Treatment and Support Services with Ketamine Augmentation
- Treatment-resistant depression
- Treatment-resistant Anxiety Disorders
- PTSD and other traumatizations
- Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder
- Personality disorders (anankastic/obsessive-compulsive, anxious-avoidant, self-insecure, dependent/asthenic, histrionic, narcissistic, and certain forms of passive-aggressive personality disorders, as well as milder emotionally unstable personality disorder within the context of complex post-traumatic stress disorder)
Treatment and Support Services without Ketamine Augmentation
- Long-lasting side effects following psychedelic use (e.g., HPPD – Hallucinogen Persisting Perception Disorder)
- Difficulties integrating psychedelic experiences
- ADHD
- Personality disorders (not listed above and not suitable for ketamine augmentation)
I offer a safe space where you can understand, process, and integrate experiences into your life—mindfully, respectfully, and on equal footing.
The Practice
Professional Background
During my medical studies, I began to take an interest in the application of psychedelics in psychiatry. In 2014, I worked at the addiction outpatient clinic INDIT in Hungary on an early warning and risk assessment system for new psychoactive substances.
Between 2014 and 2017, I was part of the Party Aid organization at the O.Z.O.R.A. Festival, serving as shift leader from 2015 to 2017. In this role, I led an interdisciplinary team of physicians, psychologists, social workers, and students, and supported people experiencing challenging psychedelic experiences.
I wrote my thesis in 2016 at the University of Pécs (Hungary) on the topic “Drug-Induced Psychoses.” In it, I compared acute psychedelic crises with drug-induced psychoses in psychiatric acute care units.
In the years 2016–2017 and 2019, I also researched the traditional uses of ayahuasca in Peru and Brazil.
I completed my psychiatric specialist training in Germany (ZfP Winnenden and Johanniter Hospital Oberhausen) as well as in Austria at Landesklinikum Baden. I received my specialist diploma in 2024. After the specialist examination, I worked at Landesklinikum Baden as a senior physician until opening my practice. Currently, I also work part-time at PSD Wiener Neudorf.
Since 2024, I have been moderator of the Mental Health Section of the MIND Foundation, where, together with my co-moderator, I initiated and conducted a lecture series on the current state of research and study findings on less-published psychedelic studies during the 2024–2025 academic year.
